Аннотация: В статье рассматривается проблема оценки конкурентоспособности университетов с позиции регионального и городского развития. Ставится вопрос об учёте критериев, направленных на исследование пользы вузов для территории присутствия в современной методологии оценки эффективности университетов. Рассматривается целесообразность интеграции результатов международных рейтингов университетов при разработке индексов, предусматривающих оценку влияния университетов на городское развитие. Осуществляется обзор методологий составления международных рейтингов городов (Global Cities Index, Cities of opportunity, Mercer Quality of Living, The Global City Competitiveness Index, QS Best Student Cities) с целью выявления содержания и значимости критериев, направленных на оценку эффективности университетов. Даётся критическая оценка международных рейтингов университетов (QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education, Academic Ranking of World Universities). Предлагаются критерии, позволяющие оценить университеты с позиции приносимой ими пользы для городов, в которых они присутствуют. Статья подготовлена в рамках выполнения научно-исследовательской работы государственного задания РАНХиГС при Президенте РФ.
